How can I reset, swap or refresh my journey?

When in the Treingids app firmly press the screen, a popover menu wil appear and presents you the available options. Depending on where you are in the Treingids app the popover menu wil present you different options that are available at that point.

Question:

How do the Treingids watch complications work?

Answer:

Treingids supports all the complications that exist (Circular, Modular Small / Large, Utility small / Large, Extra Large, Graphic Corner / Circular / Bezel / Rectangular).

The Treingis watch complication can basically do two things, it can function as a shortcut to open the Treingids app from watch face or it can display information (departure time, platform etc.) about you're default journey (only if you are a subscriber). Each type of complication has its own way of displaying information, some complications give more information than the others. Also keep in mind that depending on the type of complications, it may not be compatible with certain watch faces and Apple watch models. For example the complications Graphic Corner / Circular / Bezel / Rectangular are only available on the Apple watch 4th generation (model 2018)

Platform numbers are indicated as: 9b, P9b or Platform 9b.
Delays are indicated as: +2, +2min or Delayed +2 min.
Journey notifications are indicated as: !, !! or 💬

The Treingids complications only show default journey information in the following situation: you are subscribed to Treingids,
you have set up a default journey,
the current day is one of the set default journey days,
and you are within a certain range of one of your default journey stations.

Question:

Why should I give Treingids permission to my location and why the option 'always' and not 'only while using'?

Answer:

Treingids offers you two features that depend on you're location. The first feature shows you stations nearby, for this to work you can set the location setting for Treingids to 'only while using'. The second feature ensures that when you have selected a journey (journey detail view) the Treingids app remains active in the background. With a longer journey this is desirable so that the app does not shut down and your journey details get lost (by default watch apps are limited in how long they can stay active).
In addition, there will soon be a third feature in addition to the second one that needs to now where you are on you're journey so that it can notify you of any delays or when you need to get off the train during you're journey.
For this second and third feature to work, you must set the location settings for Treingids to 'Always'.

Although you set the location settings for Treingids to 'Always', Treingids does not always use your location. You're location will only be used on you're watch and not you're iPhone and you're location will only be used if you are looking for a station nearby or when you have selected a journey.

If you have WatchOS 5 or newer on your watch, you can also easily recognize whether an app is using your location in the background via the white dot with a navigation arrow in it at the top of your watch face.

Is Treingids free to use?

Answer:

Treingids is free to use with limitations. For only a small amount per year (see app store) all features are available.

How can I subscribe to Treingids?

Answer:

Open the Treingids iOS app on your iPhone and follow the instructions to subscribe. Treingids consists of a WatchOS and an supporting iOS app that are installed on your Watch and iPhone.

What are the minimum hardware requirements for using Treingids?

Answer:

You need at least an Apple Watch with WatchOS 4.3 or higher and an iPhone with iOS 11.3 or higher.

What do the various icons mean in the app?

Answer:

This is a station near your current location.
This is an alphabetical station list if you have to manually search for a station.
This is your home station (to be set via the Treingids iPhone app).
This is your office station (to be set via the Treingids iPhone app).
This is a station you have as a favorite (to be set via the Treingids iPhone app).
Indicates how many transfers there are in the journey.
Indicates the total travel time of the journey.
Indicates that journey is being refreshed.

Question:

Why do I have to be logged in with my Apple ID in iCloud to be able to subscribe to Treingids?

Answer:

Treingids cares about your privacy and we believe that we can provide a beautiful app and services without the need of you're personal information. For these reasons we never ask you to create an account. We do need a form of identification so you can subscribe to our services. Apple fortunately offers a very nice privacy friendly solution to identify you as a unique user without the need of you're personal information. For this to work you have to be logged in with your Apple ID in iCloud on your iPhone and iCloud drive needs be enabled.

Question:

I'm not able to subscribe! I have logged in with my Apple ID in iCloud on my iPhone but the Treingids iPhone app is still telling me that I need to login with my Apple ID in iCloud?

Answer:

When you login in to iCloud on you're iPhone you can enable or disable several iCloud services. To use Treingids (anonymously) you need at least enable iCloud drive.

Question:

I just subscribed to Treingids via my iPhone bud my watch is still telling me that I need to subscribe?

Answer:

Probably (due to circumstances) the unlocking instruction sent from the iPhone to the watch has not arrived (yet) on the watch. Close the Treingids app on your iPhone and open it again, wait 2 seconds and see if the app on your watch is unlocked. If the above has not succeeded, force quit the Treingids app on the watch and open it again.

how can I cancel my subscription?

Answer:

You can cancel you're subscription in the Treingids app on you're iPhone (yellow button 'Manage subscription') or via you're account settings in the iTunes or App Store app op you're iPhone. If you need some help check out this Apple support page Manage your subscriptions.

If you want to cancel you're Treingids subscription make sure that you do this before the end of your trial period or before the end of your subscription term (365 days).

The Treingids app installed on my iPhone but not on my watch, what to do?

Answer:

Watch app installations is an automated process that is initialized and controlled by iOS/WatchOS itself. Here are some tips and tricks that can help if the app doesn't want to install on your watch.
If this does not help, please contact Apple Support to see what is going on with your devices or settings.

  • Check whether your watch has the latest WatchOS version,
  • Is the Treingids app available in the watch companion app on your iPhone and check if it still needs to be installed (turn on the switch)
  • Restart your Watch and iPhone and check the watch companion app on your iPhone again whether the Treingids app is available and still needs to be installed,
  • Is your watch connected to your iPhone (not accidentally switched on airplane mode)
  • Remove the app on your iPhone, restart and reinstall the app (wait a few minutes between deleting and reinstalling the app)
  • Sounds crazy but give it some time, try to install the watch app at another time. Sometimes the app installs only after you have tried it a few times.
  • Question:

    I'm able to unlock all the features om my watch but not on my iPhone?

    Answer:

    This is normal, Treingids is a watch app and not a iPhone app. The iPhone app is just a companion app for the watch app (subscribe, support and info).
